How To Use Your Brain!

Use your brain! Can’t you use it properly? How many times shall I teach you the same thing? How can you forget, I taught you this yesterday? I am sure, you would have heard this. By mommies, while teaching their kids? Or you would have used it in the day to day life. Have you ever given thought how does a brain work? Why is it so that some can learn very fast and some require time to learn. Some have a sharp memory they learn and understand in one stroke. While for a few PROCRASTINATE study. Why is it different. Some can handle PRESSURE so well. While some cannot.

To know why people have different learning ability. We need to first understand the structure of the human brain. Our brain has 100 billion of the neurons. Each neuron has a different size dendrites. These are the basic building blocks of our nervous system. They are a specialized cell for processing, transmitting and receiving information. They communicate information throughout the body. When one information is transmitted to another neuron synapses happen.

What are synapses? It is a complete circuit of information. For example when you are teaching a child A for apple for the first time. One circuit is completed. When you repeat this many times, the circuit is covered by a fat layer. This enhances speed learning. Even in the sleep if you would ask what is A for. Child will reply apple. Circuits are formed exactly to what you do. This means if you watch television every day while eating the circuit will be formed stronger and stronger. The day you eat without watching TV you will feel uncomfortable

Our brain has 5 lobes and brain has 2 hemispheres as left and right. When these 5 lopes are divided by in two hemispheres. They generated 10 multiple intelligences. Each intelligence has its own function which is interdependent on others too. Let’s understand how does learning happen. We learn through five senses, By reading or writing, practising, discussing or through emotions. These are nothing but the functions of the intelligence. Prefrontal lope has Intrapersonal and interpersonal intelligence. The frontal lobe has Logic and imagination. Parietal lobe has gross motor skills and fine motor skills. The temporal lobe has language and emotions intelligence. Occipital Lobe has Observation and visual recreation intelligence.

We will look in a very simple manner.

Intra and interpersonal skill: These are two important skills to manage oneself and others. Intrapersonal skill develops the self-discipline, self-esteem in a person. While interpersonal skills develop social habits. When Intrapersonal skills are more we say the person is shy, introvert, HAPPY in his own company. As a parent or an individual, we need to work to develop the child social skill. Rather giving him the tag of shy or introvert.

Interpersonal Skill is less discipline. Once with friends or out to play would forget his priorities. In this, we work to develop the self-discipline in the child. Methods like timetable method or reward system work well with the kids.
Logic and Imagination: These are two important tools for innovation. Your creativity should get the wings of logic to materialize. Any of the skill is less creates an imbalance. If logic is less, learning the language, maths, following multiple commands and money matter will be difficult. If imagination is less then space management, geometry, abstract topics understanding will be less.  we as a parent let work to develop the intelligence.

Gross Motor and Fine motor: Gross motor skill is the coordination of all movements. Fine motor skills are the coordination of eye, hand and brain movement. Gross motor is low the child will get tired very easily. If the gross motor is a high child will not sit in one place. Full of energy. Sometimes misunderstood as ADHD or tagged as hyperactive. Fine motor is low then HANDWRITING, painting, colouring, kneading dough or chopping vegetable is a difficult task. This could be improved if finger exercises or brain gym exercise are regularly practised.

Language and Emotion: These are an auditory skill. Language skill enables you to use written, verbal and non-verbal communication in an effective manner. Emotion balance the language right meaning and context. Kids with high language speak more depends on logic. While kids with high emotion don’t speak up their feelings.
Observation and Visual Recreation: Observation makes you alter in every situation. Visual Recreation helps you remember things with the help of graphs, maps, diagrams. Kids with less observation are prone to accidents. In fact, they get hurt and they don’t realise.
